I am wanting to put a Rhinehart 2-1 pipe on my '11 RGU but am wanting to wait a while to do the full stage 1(air cleaner and tune). Does anyone see a problem with doing this? I'm guessing I'ld be ok since the air cleaner won't be installed. Any info would be appreciated.
Some people are going to say it will be ok but my experience seems to appear otherwise. I replaced my stock 2-1 with a Jackpot non-cat 2-1 and Nightstick muffler and it seems even more lean than it was. The muffler picked up a blue tint at the joint and it seems down on power. It's getting a new AC and TTS next week!!
I wouldn't risk it. Removing the cat and putting a 2-1 header on it is most likely a bigger change to fueling requirements than just swapping the air cleaner.
Will make the bike run leaner/hotter...best to wait, or install tuner at same time w/pipes. Dobeck Performance sells their EJK's for less than $200 if you're military or public service...great tuner/awesome price.

That's because your stock ECM factory setting is compensating for the better breathing capability that is has now and consequently is making your bike hotter. Your stock ECM factory setting is fighting/resisting your new mod. It still thinks that it has the cat and adjusting itself to run as if it did.
Good question here as I'm in the same boat. I've got a totally stock bike right now. I did install a PC-V in it about a month ago from FuelMoto and had them set the PC-V for just a "stock" bike but to set it with a richer fuel mixture to cool it down. The bike runs great at this point with that set-up.
I have a set of V&H Power Duals in the garage ready to be installed just havent had time to do it yet. I'm wanting these to get rid of the damned Cat in my '09 RK (CA model). Again with the goal of cooling it down.
I dont have an air cleaner yet but have a SE Ventilator that I'll be picking up from a member here in about a month. That will be my intake.
I'm wondering whether I should wait to install a/c and V&H Duals at the same time (and ask FuelMoto for a download for that new setup of course) or if I can do the exhaust first with stock/factory air intake and get a FuelMoto download for that for a temporary set up til I get the air cleaner at a later time.
