Your front brakes provide about 80% of your braking force, removing one side will reduce that. I wouldn't do it myself, and I sure wouldn't attempt it on an ABS-equipped system.
There was a thread on this a few weeks ago. Do a search.
Worked ok according to the poster.
BTW dual discs arent used to provide more braking force, they are used to provide more braking capacity. You can get the same force out of a single disc by changing caliper or master cyl, but it will overheat faster under hard use.
Agrees with KingKingKing. Will do a search.... Just thought I'd save myself 150 bucks or so buying a second matching rotor when I get my new wheels. The brembos have good stopping power(so much the front end will dip when hitting the breaks on the 09), with a better rotor and pad will just one will do?
I am really only interested in performance(handling)(for what I can get out of a very heavy HD). The new rims will be sweet looking but the tires are just that comforting grip on the road that I want. I do not like at all the stock crap HD puts on.
Check out this thread. I asked him what he thought about the conversion and he told me that it works fine for him but he wouldn't recommend it if you ride two up alot and load the bike down.
