Which aftermarket windshield works for you on your Ultra Glide??
First... I tried a search and the info is scattered and widespread, maybe a condensed thread will narrow it down.
The stock W/S is OK at best. I also have a HD 7" smoked that is good for getting me some air on the warm sunny days.
The problem with this is whenever I go for more than a day ride I have to change windshields in case of rain and at higher speeds I need the fuller protection from bugs and sand/rocks.
I would like a dark tint windshield that gives good protection, looks good and is not a huge barn door, so I'm not continously changing out shields.
What works for you ? I'm 5'11"
Check out the adjustable windshield at www.baggershield.com, We have a windshield that will adjust from a low tinted 7-1/2" height for cruising around town on hot days to a 11-1/2" touring height. It adjusts in about 15 seconds anytime and anywhere. We have also just added an option to our hardware kits that will allow you to reverse the hardware, so you only have small black button heads on the front shield in place of the wellnuts. If you check out the bike pictured with the 7.5" - 11.5" FLHT on our website, it will show you the new hardware. Please feel free to contact us and we would be more then happy to answer any question you ma have.
I have a baggershield and I love it. It is perfect for just what you said, low shield when you want more air and tall shield when you want more protection. I can switch it in about 15 seconds when ever I want.
I have a 9.5" dark gray Clearview windshield. Very good quality and very effective at diverting the wind and yet I'm able to look over the shield. Very happy with Clearview.
I know what you mean, I just went through this. I went with the 10" light gray from Freedomshields.com, and could not be happier. I am not saying they are better than the others, but they are without a doubt far, far superior to what HD sells. I am 6'1", and this shield is awesome. Good luck.
+1 on the freedom shield 10" dark tint 6'1" 800 miles last 2 days could count on 1 hand how many bugs skidded across my sunburned noggin.
I'm using an LRS shield and like it better than the clearview shield I had before.
1. LRS is thicker. I've had broken shields before so I think this is a good feature. Also my first clearview kinda fluttered a bit in the wind and made some unwanted wind noise. That one ended up breaking.
2. The 2nd time I got a shield from Clearview they sent me a shield knowing before hand there was a problem with it and hoped I would not complain. Then they charged me a 20% restocking fee when I returned it. I was going to bite the shipping fee (both ways) until they did that. I called my credit card company and got back all the money and will not do business with them again.
FastAire sounds good, I have not used one but they are polycarbonate, or something like that, and is a much tougher material than what is being used by most other companies. Although I have no complaints with the LRS, when I need a new one I think I'll try a FastAire.

The Aero Windshield is Polycarbonate, double hard coated & .138" thick.
It comes with a 1 year warranty & 100% guaranteed to fit correctly.

Early this past Spring I put a 9", dark tint, Ultra Flip from LRS on my Limited. I love it and it's a great looking shield. I'm just a hair over six feet tall.
