First... I tried a search and the info is scattered and widespread, maybe a condensed thread will narrow it down.
The stock W/S is OK at best. I also have a HD 7" smoked that is good for getting me some air on the warm sunny days.
The problem with this is whenever I go for more than a day ride I have to change windshields in case of rain and at higher speeds I need the fuller protection from bugs and sand/rocks.
I would like a dark tint windshield that gives good protection, looks good and is not a huge barn door, so I'm not continously changing out shields.
What works for you ? I'm 5'11"
LRS is good bang for the buck. My wife likes the flat-top. No more paint shakers, as she calls them. What I've found from the driver's point of view is that the closer you are to the shield the better. This factor increases as rider height increases. For instance the flat-top for me on the stock seat was just ok. Still left me wanting. But it's very good with the C&C Sport Tour seat. Unfortunately my wife completely hates that seat. So even though I have a 32" inch inseam (6'2") I put a HD Reach seat on. The move 2.5" closer to the shield was fantastic. I've only been up to about 75mph but the air stream was great, right over my head. Still think I'll try the 10" Stealth though. My guess this is the best option for tall riders.
This is a good read of these two materials. And why the Acrylic windshields are listed as " Impact Modified ".Technical and long but well worth your time. I was worried about the " Acrylic " windshield until I read this article and read about the " Impact Modified Acrylic ".
A special high cost acrylic called Impact Modified Acrylic. This form of acrylic is DOT approved for windshields.
