I just pulled the plug and bought a new set of heated hand grips from LV Harley. I have heard that there might be issues with earlier ones and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have gotten these. They are for a '11 FLHR.thanks
The ones that came on my 2010 Limited work quite well...no issues to report here. They get pretty warm at even the lower settings, and do it pretty quickly.
In reality these grips will take the chill off the palms of your hands and somewhat warm up your fingers on the inner half...but if it is really friggin cold outside they wont do much...
If you are wanting to keep your full hand and fingers warm you should invest in some electric heated gloves. They will do a much better job at colder temperatures...not much differance in price between the gloves and grips.
The HD ones on my SEUC are crap. In less than a year, on my third set. Even the shop forman says the HD ones are crap, have replaced so many. Guess some have good luck with them though.

Depends if you're behind a batwing / fairing or not. I have heated grips on my SG and good cold weather gloves and my hands are just fine. My previous bike had a windscreen and no wind protection for the fingers...the heated gloves were the only option then.
A guy I know has 'em on his '06 SE Ultra CVO. He said he had two sets fail on him. On the third set the tech cut the ends off the plugs and soldered all the connections and sealed them with heat shrink tubing. Since then no problems in thousands of miles and all kinds of weather.
I was just wondering if there were any technical glitches, (and it appears there are), I know that they wouldn't be as good as gloves but just if they were glitchey or not. Hope mine will be trouble free.
I installed mine and soldered all the connections instead of using the
push type connections and have yet to have any issues (knock on wood)
with them as I have made through 2 winters so far. Good Luck brother.
