I respectfully disagree, just about all stock compensators are loud. Even my SE comp is loud when I put in first after start up.

These 6 speed trannys just shift loud. While watching my wife shop on vacation in Hawaii, I heard a familure clunking outside. I walked out of the store and saw a rented Ultra driving down the street. It's a Harley.

I should have been more clear. If you start the bike in gear, or put the bike into 1st while it's running, and the thing lurches forward to the point that you'd better have your foot on the brake, that's a sign of a bad compensator. I've destroyed both a stock one and an S/E, and that was the first symptom of each going bad.

I had an '01 Dyna and a '03 EG Classic. They were smooth as silk compared to my '08 and '10 Streetglides. Change the transmission oil to Amsoil Severe Gear SAE 75W-110 gear oil. Makes a very noticeable and smoother difference in shifting. Having said that, it will never shift as smooth as the earlier 5 speeds.
