Hey guys I am looking for a luggage rack for the tour pak. I see there are a couple of different styles. A contoured and a air wing rack. The air wing looks larger to me. I don't know if I have ever seen one mounted on a bike. What rack do you have on your tour pak?
I have the airwing. Sorry no pic. It is about the same size except looks a little like a spoiler from the rear and you can mount a third brake light in it. If you want pic's pm me and i will post them tomorrow.
I've had both, the airwing is nice for the added led lights if you add the kit, however, the harley "sac" bag does not attach securely as the straps and struts don't line up ( I made it work...)
the premium rack is better for a full load.
If i were going to the dealer to buy now, I'd go premium, it's more practical as a rack, wider, holds more junk securely, allows better bungee use on the sides of the load.
I have the contoured rack on my 09 Ultra and like the look of it better than the premium rack when not loaded .... HOWEVER .... none of the bags that I have purchased fit very well on the contoured rack. I have attached a small Saddleman bag just big enough for rainsuits, and I have also attached a large Saddleman bag on the contour rack, but in each case I had to come up with some interesting ways to attach straps and velcro to the rack to secure the bags. The bigger rack looks like it might be easier to attach stuff to. I would swap mine for the larger rack but the hole patterns look different.
I have just purchased a Harley Touring bag for my Airwing rack and it is very large and fit's perfect. Hook's on in seconds. Have already taken a long trip works great.
