Default Road King Handlebar modification or use risers

I have a 2011 RK Standard.

It is not an emergency, I wouldn't mind sitting back a couple of inches. 2 inches probably will suffice.

I was thinking mini-apes, maybe 10-12 inches so I can sit more back instead of leaning forward. Also thinking keep current stock handlebars and use some type of risers.

Since I have throttle by wire, I was wondering what is the best way to achieve my goal so that I do not have to buy longer cables or do a lot of re-threading stuff through the handle bars.thanks

If you go with risers, you'll have to modify your handlebar clamp cover. I have seen that done, but it looks like crap imho. If you change bars, you may or may not have to change brake lines and clutch cable. It will really depend on how much of a change you're doing. If you go with the 12" apes, you'll likely have to change it all and extend your wires. It's not a hard job, it just takes some time and patience. I have done it myself three times and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I have 12" (12" pull back) tall apes. I love them. I ran with 16" apes for about 8 years. They looked cool and were great for around town, but they weren't all that comfortable for me on long trips. I like the 12" bars much better.
