I never used any of the choices above, but one after I got a seat that was leather and not vinyl. Danny Gray and Corbin make great leather seats. I do wear non padded compression shorts on long rides with days that are 90 degrees plus. Never had any monkey butt like I used to with the couple of HD seats and one after market vinyl seat I tried.

1. compression shorts (defiantely helps)
2. sheepskin cover (works best, but looks goofy)
3. hd circular seat pad (this is what I use with compression shorts)
4. beaded seat cover (would be best if you were afraid of getting caught in the rain)

Once i switched to my Mustang seat I didn't need any of the above. I did, however, try a pair of shorts from LD Comfort - similar to the compression shorts you mention but no compression, just wick moisture and prevent chafing. The shorts are fine except they have one seam that goes right down the middle of the shorts, and after several hours of riding the seam begins to really bother the "jewels". A good pair of boxer briefs would probably do a less painful job for a lot less money.

If you have a real leather seat none of the choices are needed.

I would agree about the quality leather seat thing...but with a vinyl or cheap leather seat, the beads work. I have a bead pad on my FLHTC and you actually feel the air flowing between you and the seat.

I actually like the stock seat and would think it almost perfect if it were of a quality leather. I am also an avid bicyclist and use the hardest seat on earth (Brooks). But I found that after a few minutes your mind does not sense the hardness and since you don't build up the sweat, monkey butt is not an issue.

I would like a service that simply re-upholsters the stock seat in quality leather.

I have a real leather seat, at least I watold that by corbin's people when I bought it. I rode o work Tuesday, 200 mile round trip and while I was comfortable in the am, the ride back home in the afternoon with approx 90 degree temps sure gave me a case of the hot azz. Im looking in to a air hawk or sheep skin cause monkey butt sucks.

For me it would be:
1. AirHawk seat pad
2. Padded bicycle shorts
3. I stop every 100 miles or so and walk around. Helps quite a bit
