Has anyone had any experience with Smartpartz baffles, as seen in J&P catalog? I seem to remember that there also was/is another aftermarket baffle by the name of Thunder Cones or something like that. Anyone have any information as to how well these work, are they pre-packed or not, or is it just as well to order manufacturer's replacement baffles or repack the existing ones?
My V&H Classic slip-ons are getting too loud, so I pulled the end caps & baffles (PIA), and found that the right one looks really good but the left is practically rusted out. Looks like a baffle off the Titanic. I'm in Colorado where it's dry most of the time so I don't think moisture is the cause. Any ideas?

Hey Bro....if you figure this one out, please shoot me a note with your solution. I've got the same pipes on an '02 RKC that are getting a little "tired"...trying to find the same solution. Thanks!

Thanks again!
My application was for different pipes (Rhinehart in my case), but here is a link to my ride report on the SmartPartz core baffles...

Have not figured out why the one baffle is shot, but after reading reviews of some of the non V&H choices available I decided to order the V&H replacements. They are supposedly pre-wrapped and also the cheapest, so will do for now till I decide which setup to go with next. Like I said, I don't care as much about Loud anymore so I'm thinking a Fuel Moto setup might be the next thing - PC-V, Jackpots or something that will stay mellow or at least be easier to maintain. These V&H baffles are a pain to get out once they start to get funky!
Cathead....cool, thanks. That sounds like a workable solution. Since they don't make the Classis slip-ons anymore and the replacement baffles are no longer on their website or catalog, how did you order them? I'll be damned if I can get a response direct from VH on a couple simple questions. Thanks again!

I found them in the J&P catalog - not their website. Part #440-396, $17.99 each plus s/h. The guy at J&P checked with VH and confirmed that they are oem for the Classics and that they are pre-wrapped. I think that will fix me up for now, maybe this winter I'll do the Fuel Moto upgrade.
