so i just had a four in the face installation done and I could'nt be more disappointed with the quality of the sound. I replaced the factory head unit with the Sony dsx ms60,{Hawg wired control module and Handlebar interface} this tied into the KS 125.4 Arc amp inside the fairing and went with Hybrid Technology Imagine 6.5 speakers in the upper and lower fairings. {4 channel configuration}. Upon picking up the bike and during its sound demo I felt so depressed about the sound that I was hearing using my Ipod app on my I phone. Their was no toneality to the music, the music sounded compressed and void of range and depth. The low to mid tones were missing, and I would say it sounded somewhat like a loud glorified transister radio. Maybe a little better but no much. The installer seemed lacking in solutions other than 60 hours of break in time, and I no that they herd what I was hearing. So any of you audio guys have any clues, a place to start? This system should not sound this bad. Please your thoughts and suggestions are welcomed thanks...for ever grateful 2011 Road Glide in Vegas.
2.) just read over the published specs for those speakers.
a.) they use non standard measurements for their specs (weird, they use volts instead of watt, but my trusty ohm's law calculator tells me that their specs are not unusual)
b.) they use passive crossovers which inherently turn about 30% of the amp power to heat as they filter low frequencies from the tweeters. that means that a great amount of your amp power is being consumed by the filters instead of making music.
see how the first test goes, are they pushing together?

mike thanks, the installer comes with good refs and I havent questioned his installation abilities. does more car audio than bikes but is very capable. the shop knows audio but had nothing absolute in regards to the sound problem. I felt the same as you with the break in thing
