Put gas in the 10 and ride it. If you are riding on the highway all the time you will never notice the 103 upgrade anyway unless you are 2up and pulling a trailer. I pull a trailer and 2 up and would have been fine with just a good set of cams. The only time I notice it is 1 up in town stop light to stop light and if thats worth 2-3000 for the upgrade then go for the big bore. The stock 103's have the same cam as the 96 just bigger cylinders and they still suck wind.

I have a '10 Ultra with the 96". I have no reason to trade for an '11 or '12. From my perspective the 103" isn't worth the extra money. When I bought my '10 Ultra, I planned on doing the FM107 kit. I decided to go this route than get the Limited with the 103" engine. Now with the '11s and '12s, I still don't see a reason to trade...especially since the FM107 is going in this winter. Even now with just a stage 1, my 96" '10 has plenty of power (more than a stock 103")

I'm not too afraid of the milage on a bike, I know alot of guys with 70K plus on their bikes and they just keep going.

Remember, its a toy not an investment. If you want new toys every year, cool, get them. If you want to keep the same old toys and customize them, cool, you can do that. But you should never think you're not going to pay to play. One way or another...you're paying.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

If the dealer does the work, they should honor the extended warranty.I'd rather have a trusted indy do it though!! their builds are far superior to a dealership build!!

What he said. Dealer will be there forever just because they are HD dealer. Indy has to make good to stay in business. HD warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on in my opinion. They will blame you for everything just to keep from having to warranty anything. JMO and experience

There ya go; the right answer. Sixty day delvery, change pistons to increase the compression a bit, install roller rockers and the necessary larger TB, exhaust etc. and ride. If you get serious, call Steve and GMR Performance; they have setup several and can have the piston made cheap. Forget about big bores, cams and all that stuff. You can sell your motor on Ebay for $3000-$2500 and recover amost half the cost of the 120R. You could easily have the 120R installed and running for between $4K-$5K. Cost/benefit is very favorable.

I'm betting that it won't be long before we will see CVO models with and EPA 120R and then the regular model line will get them. What will your 2011/2012 103" be worth wjem that happens. I am waiting for the 120R to be availale for the earlier softails and then one is going in my Deuce. Do it now and get out in front.

That's the impression I get at my dealer, I've talk to them about SE upgrades and they try to talk you against changing anything, if you like your warranty which tells me they will not have your back at all

Please don't hold your breath waiting for that 120r to find its way into the line up remotely resembling what is available now.. Selling the old motor for 2500+ aint gonna happen, and neither is buying a 120r, with what you recommend, for 5k. More likely 7-8k. Then it's gotta get installed and tuned and a clutch solution has to happen. At least thats what I'm thinking, closer to 10 minus the maybe 2k for the old motor. Still a good deal if a guy wants that motor.

Stock 103 is not much better then 96 unless you do some motor work. You can do lot better with your bike by beefing it up with lot less money and it will out run any stock 103.
