I have an '07 FLHTC with 7500 miles on it that I parked in the garage 3 years ago..(don't ask),have started it on an intermittent basis about 4 or 5 times a year and run it for abut 5-10 minutes at a time. Want to take it out on an extended trip and wonder what maintenance issues should be addressed before I do. The trip will be about 1400 miles. New battery is in, what else is needed to insure trouble free trip? Any input is appreciated. Thanks..PS dealer can't get me in for two weeks so I'll have to do it myself.
would really look at the tires for dry rot and change the fluids. I would be worried about anything that has a seal, forks, front end, breaks, and shocks even anything with grease in it. Would definitely do a test run of about 60 miles out with a stop and return just check everything out.
thanks for the input..I will definitely change the fluids and do a test ride, wonder about the fuel filter..is this a tough thing to change..got the books but wonder if necessary since the tank has been nearly empty and have added Stabil to what gas there was in there.
Feeling better about this trip with each passing post...Glidedsternfan...absolutely DO have my AAA up to date..Didn't think Syn 3 was so darned expensive though...can use it in all three apps? Engine, Primary and Trans? Can this be right?
