Default Question on Speakers

I have scoured the internet for weeks now trying to pick out two pairs of 6.5 speakers to run with my Fosgate amp. My question is has anyone used mid-range drivers say in the lowers and then coaxials in the fairing?

I see almost everyone uses coaxials and almost no body has done anything with just a mid-range speaker.

Been looking at a Cadence midrange speaker that is 70W RMS- 140max, and 98db SPL and it seems like a perfect match for my amp.

Thoughts from everyone?

Pain--

I installed 2 sets of Fosgate 6.5 in my street glide about a month ago, and could not be happier with them.

I put the P-1652S separates in the fairing, and P-1653 3ways in saddle bag lids.
I'm running them off of a DB Okur 125x4u channel amp in the left bag--its as loud as you could ever possibly want. Its loud enough to hear clearly in a car at highway speeds.
But, at low speed, the sound quality is as good as any auto install ive heard.

These are the same speakers that Yaffe sells, and i found them from an online dealer for about half of what theyre going for.

Look at sonix electronics . they have a huge selection, and ship immediately.

Try the 7" woofers from hogtunes. Here is the link to their members page save $20. I have and love the new sound. I have the whole set up. Would purchase again if had to do over. Plus excellent customer service.

I'm on the same boat. I guess my main concern is the water damaging the speakers, ie driving in the rain or washing the bike. I don"t want to spend money on a good pair to have the water ruin them.

How will they handle the water?

J L audio makes a 6.5" subwoofer that would fit in your lowers.

I replaced my speakers with PolkAudio speakers, they are marine grade so they are water proof and they sound great.

Thanks for the input guys. I have been emailing back and forth with the owner of a speaker company on his opinions on using midrange and midbass drivers instead of the typical coaxials we all use. He seems to believe a good midrange driver would be better suited for an application such as a motorcycle.

Put this in the FWIW category: The SESG2 and SESG3 use mid-range speakers in the fairing and fairing lowers, and separate tweeters in two of the small gauge holes in inner fairing.
