Default 09 Ultra ignition switch

I need a little help with putting my switch back in. I searched for previous posts and found some, but still can't get it right. I have had an alignment tool in position while I had the switch out and it will make everything work, fork lock, start position, accessory.........no problem, and when it comes out, I can see in the housing the notches for the key seem to be lined up but switch doesn't seem to want to seat all the way down, seems to lack about a quarter inch.

I watched the youtube guy with the copper pipe tool and his just about falls in but mine doesn't drop all the way down. And what is the round bar at the bottom of the housing, and what does it do? Could the bottom end of the switch be hitting that thing or am I not just not holding my moutth right?
Thanks to all

Are you positive both notches inside the neck are lined up? (about 3" seperates the top one from the bottom one). It sounds like the bottom one is not lined up and the ignition shaft is sitting on top of it instead of seating into it. If it is not that, then it has to be something on the outside. Did you put the two black plastic pieces together correctly and is the nut tightened down, is the spring seated properly? That is about all there is too it, has to be one of those things.

I think the parts are on right, the black plastic spacer on bottom and then the metal threaded part on top of that, which is flush with top of the housing shaft, maybe the nut isn't tight enough. I think I can see clear through the switch shaft notches in the housing, and that is what doesn't add up, the alignment tool drops in all the way and lets everything work. Still wonder about that round bar looking thing at the very bottom of where the bottom of the switch shaft goes. I guess I will measure the alignment tool and the switch shaft tonight and see if the tumblers are lined up
thanks to all

You can also take the spring off the stock **** and use it to help line up. I know what you mean, my first time was a sob
