I am looking for opinions on the 4" Screamin' Eagle Performance Exhaust. I want a slightly better sound than stock, and a little oomph. Will a remap be necessary with these slip-ons? If you think there are better options in that price-range (under $400 w/ end caps) please let me know. Thank You
SE performance mufflers will vary form 1 to another. Sound is very subjective. Tone/loudness can only determined by you. I suggest going to a hang out or poker run and have a listen for your self. That is the best way.
If you change cams the volume will go up considerable. The ones I am using was perfect for me good deep sound, volume just right. I changed cams and now they are a bit too much
I have the 4" SE Touring Slip-ons. They sound deeper than stock and are not loud at all. Maybe only the slightest (and I mean very slightest) louder than stock which was what I was looking for. As mentioned, no re-map for slip-ons only.
if you are refering to the supertrapp style SE slip ons( nightstick/fatshots), I think they are fantastic-
For a non-cat bike, they'll be very open and supertrapp accessory discs and/or endcaps may be required to tone them down.
the supertrapp disc system can allow very high flow, with damped high frequencies when the end caps are used.
the supertrapp supermegs are the mufflers the S/E's are based on, little bit different baffling and the S/E brand stamped on the side
a remap, tuner or XIEDS ( $125) would likely be needed especially if you are no longer using the stock air cleaner housing
I have a 2009, I have the 2008 SE exhaust on them. I have a remap with a big sucker air cleaner.
I am satisfied with the sound, but when my wife is on it, I wish they were louder. Buy myself they sound cool. Next to other bikes they are weak. I heard my bike the other day, let a friend ride it, and considering going in and out of the neighborhood, it is plenty loud.
