New to the Forum and am impressed. I own a Road King Classic that I bought new in 07 and love riding. A lot of informative stuff on this website. Unfortunately I do not think I am going to be able to ride anymore this year and a little nervous that I may never be able to ride. I just had hip resurfacing surgery with a recovery time of 4 weeks, so I figured with the heated grips and jacket liner I could get some riding in this fall (live in Michigan)...well I ended up getting drop foot syndrome. They went in the next day and did not find anything wrong with the nerve and it fired, but stretched during the surgery. Time line is 2 weeks to 2 years and may never fully recover. Really down right now.
I'm a new member also,I hope you make a full quick recovery,I know how you are feeling.I haven't been on my bike since mid July I had a detached retina and was kind of in your situation with a long recovery ,things are looking decent for me at this time I just don't think I would feel comfortable riding with only one eye
Hang in there you guys. I am sure everything will work out for you. I am a survivor, and still a rider after two back surgeries for blown disks. It took a while to heal, and I missed a couple seasons, but I still ride.
SG, Good Luck as well. Drifter, that's pretty much what I do. All others thanks for you support. If you look at my album that was a ride around almost the entire lower coast of michigan and across the mackinaw bridge about a month ago. I am really glad I did that ride now becaue this was the last thing I expected. Hell one I guy I went with spent 8 months in a nursing home because of a bad Motorcycle accident and his nickname is kickstand and his one leg literally looks like a kickstand.
I'm hoping to be riding by spring and I've already done a ton of cosmetic, other than a possible deep bucket sundowner(the one that matches the existing stock mesh and HD medallions just a nice deep bucket for my tail bone) I am going for performance and sound over the winter. Right now I'm lying in the hostpital bed and I can move my foot a tiny bit and my wife said while I was napping it was twitching, so that is positive.
