Hi Kdfoster:
Go to the link below and click on the product picture. Your speakers should look like that if not then you must have a defective set.

Those are the db speakers, he has the mm series.Your speakers wont look like these.
Do the factory speakers work if you hook them back up? If they do you have something wired wrong or a problem with the speakers. To test the speakers take a small battery like 9v or aa and take a wire and hook from the battery to the speaker with polarity correct and you should hear a faint bump noise if you do the speakers are ok.Also try to skip over the crossovers and hook up directly to the polks upper or lower spades 1 at a time and see if all speakers work at a low volume if they do it could be the crossovers. Were these speakers new or used?
I appreciate all the help from you guys. I finally got some sound, but it wasn't as good or loud as the stock speakers. I got frustrated and put the stock speakers back in. It wasn't a lost cause because I got some good experience taking the fairing off and seeing how different things look inside. If I do something in the future, I'll just make sure I get the plug and play speakers. I don't know enough about speakers to know if the speakers or defective ,or not hooked up correct. Thanks again
