I have an 09 Road King with 57,000 miles on it. My bike started bucking as if there was water in the gas, it turns out the wire harness was rubbing on the battery and wore through to the wires causing it to short. Is this a common problem? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thanks for any input.
3 years is kinda quick, but 57,000 miles is more than 95% of 09's have on em.
You are a pioneer and discovering problems for the rest of us.
mind posting a photo or description so I can check same location on my 09 ?
I have had wires rub through on various bikes over the years- fix would be to strip back insulation, use a crimp butt connector and heatshrink tubing over top.
can't solder wires on a bike, the wires break at the joint due to vibration.

Say what???? I've been soldering wires for YEARS on bikes with no problems; never heard of anybody having any problems when soldering done correctly. OTOH, seen many, many nightmares caused by butt connectors....

Thanks for the input. My husband and I did just that. There were 4 wires that we had to repair, unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. We did find out about the codes and I need to replace a sensor.
