My VIN also gives this notice, since I have added my pcIII and have no excesive heat or ping, do we that have upgraded even need this flash? and if we do it will we have to remap the pcIII, guess I need tto call jamie at fuel moto monday when they reopen.
Checked a couple sources. You don't need the remap.
This recall came out a few days ago and many dealers just havent heard about it yet.Bet they do now.Just print a copy off web site w/your vin# for them if need be.They can connect for this info.
I would double check if you are running a PC111 but I doubt that you will HAVE to have this download. It would be a good backup in case your PC111 fails.I dont think this recall will effect stage downloads, plus a newer stage download is rumored to come out in Dec.
There are one or more open safety recalls or product improvement campaigns on your vehicle. The following list contains the campaign number and a brief description:
0903: TORQUE SMOOTHING CALIBRATION
We strongly urge you to take your motorcycle to your dealer to have the appropriate service performed as soon as possible. Should you choose to ride your motorcycle prior to this service, we urge you to be aware of this condition. Please see your local Harley-Davidson dealer for further details.
Thanks for the heads up on this. I called the dealer this morning to ask about this issue. Service Manager had not heard about it. He called back in about 15 minutes to say he found it. I took the bike in at 2:00 pm and had the download done.
I only rode about 25 miles after but it seemed to really improve low RPM performance, less pinging for sure.

This sounds like the flash for heat management on 07's at idle. The recall is a remap for pinging and heat through out the rpm range.
A friend of mine contacted 4 dealers and the last one had an answer. He had a bulletin and read it to my friend over the phone. What he said was that Harley made a change in the map while it was in production, that is why they want the VIN. All bikes made before a certain VIN needs to be upgraded. This new map does not change the A/F. What it does is change the timing. Doing this it is suppose to help with the surging and the lugging that everyone has been complaining about. The other 3 dealers said that the MOCO is closed today and they will call them on Monday. Other then that we will have to wait until Monday to see if the others come up with the same answer.
Had the 0903 "recall" done today. Nothing more than a computer download. The procedure took approx. 15 min. Bike ran well after the download. I don't notice any change in the performace.
