Default cvo mufflers

Hi guys...I just purchased an 09 ultra classic a month ago. All stock. To start with I would like a little more sound from stock mufflers. I was wondering if cvo mufflers are any different or are they basically the same sound.I know an indy shop that has a set for $150 and they are in excellent shape but if they aren't any deeper I would be wasting my money. Thanks for any input.By the way they came off an 2001 bike.

I wouldn't.

I would suggest going to bike nights or dealer BBQ's--- where ever the bikes are.

and see what looks and sound qualities appeal to you.

smarter and less expensive in the long run.

the cvo pipes should have an HD part number on them, you could do a search and see if there are any comments or if the same pipes are used on other model bikes ( likely)

I have CVO's on my 07 Electra. Quiet.............. but from what I have read they are known for creating power.

I am running a set of 2011 CVO mufflers on my 2003 Ultra and I like the sound. Not that loud, but a deeper tone with much better flow than my stockers and they look very cool.

FYI - I enjoy my music and prefer a less than noisy touring bike ... but that's just me.

Also, if in excellent condition, $150 is a good price. Hell, if you don’t like the sound just throw them on EBay for $200.

Sound is pretty subjective, but I think you would find the CVO stock pipes pretty quiet and not so different from the stock pipes currently on your bike. Listening to various pipes on other bikes is the absolute best way, but make sure you compare apples to apples. A set of pipes on a 103 motor will sound very different on a 96 or 110 motor. Same with header pipes. Gutting the cats or installing cat-less head pipes will increase sound levels somewhat and open things up a bit, too.

I had a set of 2011 CVO pipes on my 09 cat-less Classic. The CVOs were quieter than stock,in my opinion the stock pipes sound better, and they didn't appear to have any better flow than stock, according to my seat dyno. But they are a good looking pipe.
