I found a 2004 Road King police bike with 12,000 miles on it. Almost completely redone. New paint. White metal flake with tasteful flame like stickers on the tank bags and fenders under clear coat. Chrome front end. Fatboy front fender. Road king custom chrome wheels. wide beach bars with braided cables. Windshield and tachometer. The controls have been replaced with reg chrome controls with chrome buttons. The Motor has screaming eagle barrels, axtel flat top pistons, 95" kit, EFI with Thunder max with auto tune, 2-1 Supertrapp supermeg. .30 cometic gasket with 9.75 compression. Andrews 37 cams. replacement 2 up seat with 2 point removable backrest/ luggage rack. new brakes with good tread on the tires. Runs pretty strong. sounds ok. Kinda heard a chirping sound when its running inside. didn't hear it outside. Wonder if it could be the supertrapp exhaust.
Dealer wants $10,800 for it. I offered $9700 but was rejected. The came down to $10,700 but that was it. I told them I'd think on it.
So any idea what its worth?
Seen any newer bikes around that price?

...it sounds like a nice bike..10,800 from a dealer isn't WAY out of line, but to me, that would be a bike I would feel comfortable paying under 10,000 for. Kind of like you, I think the mid 9's is a good price, I think you are doing real nice at 9,500-9,800, but not at 10,800. I would not pay over 10,000 for it...Police bikes are a dime a dozen to be honest..usually go a lot cheaper, in your case the bike has been all done over, so it doesn't really compare anymore to a Police, but still, it's a 2004 and isn't gonna have much resale in a few short years...good luck
Well geez, in March of this year i paid 12,500 for my 06 Road King Police. And it didnt have, Big bore kit, new paint, exhaust, wheels, controls, bars, cables, tuner, or backrest. So yeah, seems quite reasonable to me.

Plus 1
Comes down to you, how much do you like the bike, are you looking for a extended warranty? I got my 07 FLHTPI with 15k on it in 09 for 11,500, it had the 103 and was what I was looking for.
if they haven't upgraded the cam tensioners add 1000-1500 more to the cost of that motorcycle. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/mcy/2587755227.html
even with more miles on it this is a better deal because of the accessories.
everything you do not use will sell on CL or ebay. I knocked 1400 out of the 10k I paid for my glide by selling the crap I didn't use. which makes the road king in this ad really only cost 8k or less depending on what you want to keep.
imho

Thats Funny !.....lol. You have a very nice bike even without some of the go-fast bling, it's also two years newer.... Cheer up !
Its in the art of negotiating, with High performance upgrades there will be a higher likelyhood of potential issues, see if they will offer an extended warrantee over and above their norm. no cost to them assuming they are selling a quality product and a piece of mind for you..good luck and drive safe
IMO your first offer may have been a little high. You should have left more room for negotiating and should not have told them that you would think about it.
(opening offer of $9k and a flat out no to $10.7k). But that's all hindsight.
You can wait (at least 4 days, a week or even two is better) and see if they call you with a better offer (Yes you risk them selling the bike). If not you can increase your offer by $25 or $50. Get them to negotiate on out the door cost, you are leaving yourself open for those BS prep and paperwork fees they always want to tack on. (What your interested in is total cost, Tax, Title, License).
