I should have twice the miles on this thing by now but unfortunately being in the HVAC business riding time is my busy time. I'm going to take it to an indy in wentzville mo to have it done the guy seems to be up front and honest. I also ordered my wild 1's 575's and am going to have him put them on. I would like to quiz them on what they will do..... any questions you would ask when dropping it off??????? I feel like a dumbarss not doing it myself but I would rather have it done right the first time. This bike has operated flawlessly since day one only mod is FM slips which I think sound awesome.
new bars- CHECK the clutch cable when you pick it up. recent post by a rider his clutch cable hung up on a left turn and wouldn't allow the front end to straighten up.- it wasn't routed or tied off properly
the common fault there is pinched wires causing multiple problems and may not show up the first ride
you can make him aware that there are new torque specs for the tranny "trap door" bolts 20~23 ft lbs-- on some models the 2 lower bolts also support the exhaust and can back off dripping tranny lube on the exhaust
You shouldn't have to ask them anything, if you don't have the time to do it yourself....you don't have the time. They might also know specific problem areas to check for that year and model. It all depends on the conscientiousness of that one mechanic.
Either you trust the guy, or you don't. I don't think I'd go in and start advising him on what to do or what is supposedly new out there. If you don't trust him, find someone that uses him and ask them about him. Or find someone you do trust.
Dealerships give (at least mine does) a checklist of all the things included in each service, and it's checked off by the mechanic with room for notes on anything special or extra they did. Maybe this indy has that too.
