How long should your rotors last?
My 09 UC has close to 40,000 miles on her. I was wondering how long should your rotors last? I understand if they get hot they can warp and will need to be replace but other than that, what is their normal life span.

10, 20 , 40 years.
depends on warping and thickness, specs are in the manual, just measure them.
poor brake technique will warp ( dragging the brakes, over application on long downhills), over hard or worn to metal pads will etch them.
my 88 FXRP has original discs, over 80000 miles, 40K of which were CHP, my 95 FLHTC also over 80K on discs

Just to stir the pot, I've warped two sets of front floating rotors on my 2010 Limited in 45,000 miles.

the spec is also stamped on the rotor itself.

The question is answered by what brake Pad material that you are using. We test for the material coefficient of friction and how it works on the rotor metal (material). We get unlimited mileage on both our Metal Matrix (MMC) rotors as well as Stainless Steel. We recommend our organic material which puts a coating of brake pad on each side of the rotor and is stopped by the like brake pad material on the pad. There is no dust nor is there any sintrered fibers in the pads to produce wear or rust.
At the track iron is used along with sintered brale pads, the type used in OEM pads. This type of material does wear your rotors, does leave rust spots on your wheels and does produce dust.
I do not wish to be in the brake pad business and only sell to our customers who purchase our MMC, Stainless Steel, or Iron rotors.
