I have a 2011 Ultra Classic Limited (103) with 3000 miles. Started blowing oil and my local dealership informed me the piston, rings, and cylinder need to be replaced on the back cylinder. Good news is this is under warranty. Any concerns I should have for this repair...future problems, etc.? Question for mechanics - should both cylinders be repaired? Concerned if only one is replaced - one with new parts and the other with 3000 miles. Thanks!

asked them to provide you the measurements for the ring end gap verification and the valve to piston clearance. These are measurements indicated in the install instructions . If these measurements are not done, you risk a possibility of having a re-occurrence of part failure.
Wanted to post an update on my repair. The dealership checked both cylinders and determined the rear cylinder was bad but the front was within spec. Therefore, they were only going to replace the bad cylinder. However, I spoke to the service manager and he contacted HD about my concerns. HD indicated they were not going to replace the front cylinder, but my dealership stepped up to the plate...they are going to replace both cylinders. I will continue doing business with this dealership.

What is the name of this dealer. When one goes and does the right thing like this you need to bragg up on them a little. We sure hear all the bad stories.
