Am I understanding correctly that I can pull these back toward me away from fairing to get the most comfortable position? Close to stock pull back?

Yes, you can pull them back far enough to reach comfortably. All the threads you've read you should have seen MANY pics of 10" Yaffes pulled back and with riders in the 5'8"-5'10" range. I think I've even seen a 5'6" or two.

Thanks!
I seen some guys were shorter than me, also some guys may have a different riding style than me. I just wanted to be sure.

Great bars, you'll love'em. Likely won't love the wait though. Often seems to take a while to get them. When you are ready, if they are hard to find on the shelf somewhere, send me a PM. I think I know a Harley dealer that has a set in stock.

A lot of good info to include pics in this thread. This forum is killing my wallet. I am now going to have to order the black 10" MBB's. Does anyone know how many hours the dealerships are quoting for install? I am not going to attempt the install myself. Those of you who have changed to a painted inner fairing, is this this best time to get it done. Trying to consolidate and maybe save a few bucks on labor costs.

A dealer quoted me 6 hrs at $95 per hour labor lol Screw that for a lark lol
Bought a service manual...read several threads here about changing bars/cables ...asked alot of questions and did the work myself.

For your painted fairing, go ahead and get it done while your bars are getting installed..fairing is already off, might save a coin or three.

I've seen labor hour quotes fluctuate quite a bit. None of them are cheap though. Are you sure you can't tackle this yourself? Anybody local you could ask for help. Maybe a fellow forum member? If I lived closer I'd offer to help.

As for the painted inner fairing: Yes, this is the time to paint it. For several reasons: An important one is b/c you are very likely about to change out your mirrors to bar mount instead of fairing mount. I think everyone agrees that you can't keep fairing mirrors with 10's. So you will be needing to cover up the holes left behind when removing the fairing mirrors. Another possible reason is if you re-route your clutch cable and want to cover up that hole. Either routing outside fairing or hiding it even further like I did. Take a look at this thread:

I wanted 10 inch Yaffe's MMBs and bought them. I like the way they look and work. I would not want to go higher as I ride a lot at highway speed. I lost all hand protection from the batwing, damn cold in the winter.

I guess it's what you are looking for, a bar hopper, yes I guess I would go higher for style. I put mine on because of back problems and to be able to ride longer.

Hope it works out for you, Be Safe JIM

I put 12's and only lost a little wind coverage. If I rise my hands an inch more they are fully in the wind....the install took me about 6-7 hours minus wiring the bars. The inner fairing doesn't have to come off to install the bars but will make the install easier with the fairing off and looks bad *** with it painted.

I would attempt to do them myself but I work overseas and am always limited on time when I do go to the states. I would hate to get into it and run into a snag and it take me a few days. I prefer to pay someone on this task and have done right and out of the shop. I will probably even buy a painted inner fairing (vivid black) and then sell my stock one on the forum or ebay. I am also going to be getting some custom wheels, Prigressive Monotube, and chrome front end installed. I am hoping I can save a little bit of $$ getting all the work done at the same time.
