Default My mods are moving in reverse

Place it all in the "if I knew then what I know now" file. Like most everyone, I had great ideas for my bike when I first brought it home in August 2008, and I spent the first year or so spending money and changing parts. For a short while I was happy with 14" apes, heavy breather A/C, recurve windshield, mustang seat, etc. It did look pretty cool.

But, I was constantly cleaning out the open A/C filter, and I was overly worried about getting it wet while washing or riding in rain (maybe a little over-paranoid, but whatever) so the heavy breather was the first thing to go. I'm back to the SE with the football cover and I'm worry free.

Then, I had a wild hair to trade it all in for a Ultra Limited, so I pulled the recurve windshield and put the stocker on for the trade. Thankfully the deal didn't go through, but I realized I had the same amount of air flow with the short stock windshield, but felt like I had a better field of vision. So, I'm back to the stock windshield full time.

Then, my comfortable touring Mustang seat was stolen from my bike in Sturgis. Having little options and being 1200 miles from home, I ended up with a Corbin 2up, very plain looking, but also very comfortable and it's on there to stay. So, that one wasn't really a conscious choice...

And, the new seat sat me down and back a little so I was reaching in a rather uncomfortable manner. I tried adjusting the bars but just couldn't get them somewhere I was happy with. I picked up a set of Wild 1 W0575s, which is much closer to a stock riding position than the apes I was running.

So, here I am with a pretty stock looking bike, and I'm happy to say it's now more comfortable than it's ever been. In fact, it really feels like a totally brand new and different bike, so I have that honeymoon feeling with it all over again. Not to mention, maybe the worthless dirtbag thieving a-holes won't look twice at it the next time they need to pawn someone else's property to support their drug habit, since it looks so basic. Here's hoping.

So that's my mod story for today. I'm guessing you can tell the Northern Nevada weather has changed with the clocks, and our riding days have become few (and frigid), being that this is my first post since early spring or so...

Stay warm.

Ahhhh, I'm leaning toward something similar. I am pulling the Vance and Hines Pro Pipe off this winter and going with the Cobra Power Plus head pipe and some toned down mufflers. I'm also debating on pulling the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner and going back to a stock air cleaner to get back the leg clearance I had when the bike was stock. The very first mod I made to the bike was the Harley Goodies extended floor board kit and it was so comfortable. Then when I did the stage 1 the air cleaner stuck out farther and I find that my right leg is cramped against the air cleaner again. Of course if I remove the stage 1 air cleaner, which I still haven't firmly decided on, I'll not need the PCV, so I'll be going back to the stock 02's with no tuner. In its place if this is the way it goes, I may just add an oil cooler. Although with the cat still removed, I don't think I'll have much of a heat problem anyway. Still debating.

I guess that I am lucky because my first mods was to change out the things
that left me stranded on the road on my first harley. My next mods were to
remove everything that I hated. My last mods was to make my wife more
comfortable and feel better about herself
