I have a 2000 Ultra Classic and I am having some issues with my ride. I am needing to replace the stator, regulator, rotor and all the gaskets and o-rings. I need to know if there is some place online to go to get the parts that I need that can save me some money. I am also looking for a place to download the shop/service manual in .pdf format. If anyone can help me out with this, please let me know. Thank you and ride safe!!!!!! God Bless!!!!!!
I think you will find that the admins of this forum do not support the "downloading" of illegal manuals. Why? It's against the law. I am not aware of any legitimate manuals available for download. There may be some, but I am not aware of them. Most of the downloadable stuff is from outfits that have illegally copied the HD service manual.
You can do this work yourself, but bone up and get a legit hard copy service manual for your bike from your local dealer. HD actually does a pretty good job with their service manuals, and they are worth the investment. I think there is another company, Clymer, that may make a manual for your model year as well.
Once you have a manual, all of your parts questions will be answered.
clymer and haynes manuals are very general-- crap.
get the factory manual, the location of the left handed fastener and the torque values are very important.
2.) never use air impact tools on your compensating sprocket, it can knock the magnets off the rotor ( destroying the stator as it goes)--- and not on the clutch/main drive as the tranny linkages can be damaged
3.) it is unusual for the rotor/stator and regulator to go at the same time--- sure about the diagnosis?
4.) when removing the outer primary cover, the battery must be disconnected first--- safety issue, fingers can be lost
