Default Bike starts without FOB

My bike starts without the FOB anywhere near it. I thought they all came with the basic FOB security (no siren)? I didn't even notice until today when I got home and both FOBs were in my room.

check your manual, perhaps the alarm has been disabled..
assuming that the signals do not flash "armed" when the bike is shut off?

( and you do know about the $6 radio shack siren many of us use?)

and make sure you have a PIN set

I never got one, I traded in for the bike at a rally out of state and they said they would mail it to me. I never got around to folllowing up. I guess I will give them a call.

My 09 RG will start when the fob is within about 4 feet

Without sounding silly, are you sure you actually started the bike whilst out of range of the Fob?

Years ago I started my bike and then rode off, leaving my fob in the garage. I only realised when I stopped for gas.

Once the bike is running the fob is not required. Is it possible that this happened?

With my security, the fob is only neccessary if the security systemn has been set. My system doesn't set automatically, so unless I use the fob to set the system, I don't need the fob to start it.

Don't know about 2011 but in 2010 when I bought my UC, security was an option.
