Default Reduced reach seat....reality

Ok, so the 04 RK classic I bought had a Corbin seat I am to short to use. I am hearing mixed reviews about the HD reduced reach so I am looking for opinsions on ride comfort for both rider and passenger.

We are never doing 400 mile days but sometime spend the day out with it.

Wife does not have issue and I like the Reach Seat a lot. Good back support and rides nice. Did 750 miles in two days and had no pain or discomfort.

Not sure about fitment for the 04 RK, but for the 11 EG, there are 3 different reach seats with different dimensions.. I didn't like any of them.

I wouldn't give up on the Corbin. Give them a call, tell them what kind of Corbin seat you have and ask them if they can do some work on it to thin out the nose section and possibly remove some seat padding to drop you lower to the ground. The big thing is making your seat a little more narrow up in the nose section. This will allow you to drop your legs down sooner rather than having the nose section to wide thus pushing your legs out before going down. I'm 5'5" and had a 97 RK with a Corbin Dual Touring Close Saddle that worked great for me. I lowered both the front and back of the bike which along with the Corbin Close Dual Touring Saddle put my pretty flat footed.

I had a Reach on my 06.
It is basical the same seat as stock, you sit only very slightly lower but move forward more than down.

I had thought about keeping the Corbin but the issue with the one I have is that it sits way far back. The seat from front to back for the rider is huge. While I agree that thinning it out would make it easier to reach the ground it still sits me back far on the bike for my height which in turn gives my passenger less room because I am back so far.

Also, are Corbin's known to be insanely firm seats? There is no "cush" to it at all.

Anyone know if the Sundowner lowers you even a little bit?

Yes, corbins are very firm and take some time to breakin. But, in my experience, after breakin they are very comfortable. I've had them on my last 4 bikes, except my current one which I have a "reach" seat (08 RG; I'm 5'6"). My wife is 5'1" on a good day and likes sitting on pax end of the reach seat. I hadn't noticed the reach seat "lowering" me much, but it does put me more forward noticably giving my passenger more room.

Corbin can redo your seat for you to push you forward giving your passenger more room and probably sliming the nose a bit to allow you to get your feet more planted if that's what you want. However, it'll cost you!

I believe Corbin has a shop in Daytona. Best way to get a custom seat is ride down and have them build it to you so you sit where you want on the bike. You can sit on it during each phase and take the final one for a ride to see if it needs any more tweeking. It'll probably cost you nearly the same to have them adjust the old seat as it would to get a new one built. But I can say that if you opt for the Corbin custom build, you won't regret it.

Well the Corbin seat was on the bike when it got it and the bike is an 04. I'm thinking the seat has been on the bike for quite a while as the leather shows wear on the rider portion.

From what I hear the shop here in Daytona is sales only and not equiped to make adjustments.

I am just not sure it's worth it given that the seat may be a few years old. It is in pretty good shape, you can just see some slight wear in the leather.
