Has anyone istalled an Oil Bud cooler? How well does that cool being laid horizontally on the very bottom of the bike somewhat out of the air flow? Thanks

My wife's 06 ultra has an oil bud on it. I think it works well. We never see oil temps over 230 even in hot weather and stop and go traffic. It is impervious to rocks like on gravel roads and it won't clog up like the fins on a standard cooler will. It's probably a future upgrade my ultra will be getting.

Wow, I just checked on the price. $645.00 was the best price I found?

Ok, slight delay for 3rd batch. I was too hasty with my decision about the fans, so now I'm changing the fans for the benefit of the customers and to improve the system performance. I am getting my recent shipment of fans exchanged. The new fans will provide a substantial improvement in performance and at minimal increase to power input requirement. The new fans will draw a combined load of 2.2 amps continuous, as opposed to the 1.7 amps in the current systems. These fans are a little more expensive but that will not impact the price of the system, it will remain the same. I will still seek a higher thermal insulation class, but I think the output of these fans is quite sufficient.

It's very hard to quantify what you can expect due to all of the variables but I can reference the performance on my own bike with the tests I just finished up. Dynamic test at 55MPH thoroughly warmed up and normalized, measured via surface mount sensor, not an IR gun, at the rear cylinder
Current Fans 270F
New fans 255F
greater improvement at 45MPH
Current 260F
New 240F
I can't gurantee everyone will get these same results, but if you arent't happy with the results you get, I will refund your money upon return.

The static test is my least favorite, the dynamic test is a better representaion of how the system will perform, and what a user can expect under real operating conditions. Yes I developed this sytem to combat the stopped and slow moving situations that cause engine temps to spike, but it turned out so well that it provides significant cooling at moderate cruising speed. I disabled my oil cooler fan for this test, but my oil temp actually dropped from 220 to 205 while conduct the 55 MPH test on the new fans. Oh yeah, absolutely no ping with the new fans, where I had a very slight ping with the current version. I think we have a keeper!

Jason, are the new fans any louder than the original fans. My originals are pretty darn quiet as far as fans go! 20F is a pretty substantial drop. With another 20F drop in head temperature, I'd expect about a 10F drop in oil temp based on what my bike seems to be doing. At that I would rethink purchasing an oil cooler.

These sound like great results. At first I thought I would only need this for city driving but it looks like these will produce great results even in the urban type driving at moderate speeds that I do currently on the way to work. The last couple days at 100 degrees here have convinced me this will be a good investment

Good Job!

current 57.5 db
new 61.5 db
Not remarkably louder to me but that will be a subjective thing

I have the oilbud on my 08 FLHTCU. Haven't had the rear cylinder shut down since I installed it. Didn't have an oil temp gauge before I installed it so I can't speak to how many derees cooler it runs. I'm on Jasons list in the 4th batch, but feel comfortable with the engine cooling riding the bike with just the oilbud until I get his system. Without the oilbud I was having to aviod riding in slow/stopped traffic situations when it was 90-100 degrees. If I were to buy a new bike tomorrow I'd do 3 things

Put the Ohlins on the new bike
Put the LED headlight and spots on the new bike
Order an oilbud for the new bike

then i'd start modding..
