Default air shocks

hey guys, interesting to see this thread revived. i did it last year based on some old info posted long ago by texasbowhunter. also enjoy the mechanical part of fitting things together. on my 09ultra i used the gabriel 729202 and found them to ride like a truck even with very low air (what did i expect - they are meant for a corvette!). are you using a different model #? great fun though to slam it - 4" drop is very dramatic. i gave up and bought ohlins but still rides hard for my old back. i'm still on the quest - rebuilding my seat with old-school buddy seat 5" springs.

Default xotic concepts

Would I be better off buying the kit from xotic concepts for $530 which has a lifetime warranty and instructions plus will not rub on tire? Also will this system can you lower just skittle while driving without dumping all the air?

I don't see why you should spend even $530 when this can be done for $200. The Monroe's have a 2 year to lifetime warranty (depends where you buy them). There are plenty of instructions in this post or the other air ride install post. Install is easy. I have no problem with anything rubbing the tire even with it slammed. I can adjust the air either up or down while riding.

It's your money so buy what you want. I'm still very happy with the homemade air ride system.

Gabriel # I'm using is 49304. Ride quality is a lot like seats. What feels good for my butt may not be so good for others. After 10k miles with this setup I'm still happy with it.

First, I would like to thank all of the contributors. This is a very informative thread.

Is anyone running a pressure gauge, or something to monitor where the shocks are set at ride height? How do you know where to stop the compressor to get the feel or performance that you like? These questions are assuming that the shocks would perform differently at different levels, if that's incorrect, someone please straighten me out. Thanks again for all of the information and diagrams.

Yes, +1 in thanks for all who worked on this thread, their bikes and the ones who did several threads like this. It has given me some ideas on when I want some mods for my 12 SG. I am a frugal kinda guy and 200 is a hell of a lot better than 530 any day.

Thanks to all and for your great reports after a year or so of running it.
