Has anyone tried the electronic pressure relief . Doing stage two and my indy suggested these. I am looking for any feed back on these while i still have the chance to switch to manual switch if they perform better with less problems. The mounting area will be a bit of a pain in the a-- if needing future work.
Thanks in advance
automatic compression releases, got them on my bike and have never had a problem. Manual compression releases are going to be cheaper and will never malfunction.
If you're talking compression releases, automatics are less hassle but are harder to maintain since they are "underneath" the rockers on the inside of the cylinder. Manuals are installed out by the spark plugs and are easy to service. Both will require machining of the head and tapping a hole if you did not already have some sort of release.
Also, for a Stage II, are you bumping up displacement and compression? A compression release is only needed on a bigger than 96ci or one that has a high compression ratio (10+). If you're just doing head porting and new cams, you likely won't need a release. Of course, this all depends on your bike is, which you have neglected to tell us.
I have a 06 ultra stage one with hq34 gear drive cams just going to a 95 but figured everything is apart so may as well get it done now and my indy who has been building bikes for 40 plus years suggested doing the and i trust his opion. also did up grade on clutch springs with se clutch build rhine hart 3.5 exhaust with vh headers I hope this gives you guys a beeter detail, sorry for leaving so much out, working on new reloader for 9mm at same time, need new hobby for winter
I say go for the manuals. Less hassle and less stuff to break if you don't mind clicking them every time you start. That, and they can be fixed/replaced without removing any other part of the engine.
sounds like manuals are winning the poll here. Going to call indy monday and have him do manuals that extra money can go toward a valve job if needed while were in there. Dont really need to add anymore electrical problems to a bike that has to electrical already.
