Bought a 2012 RKC and would like to know the height of the stock windshield. Not sure how to measure it. I found several descriptions of measuring on fairing models but am unclear as to how to measure the shield on my King. I am assuming it is the 18" height, can anyone verify that. When riding I am looking right through the top edge and it is distracting. I plan on a new one but would like to know what I have so I can order something a little lower.
If you feel froggy, you can cut yours. You could do a search here for how to. I've also seen videos on You-Tube. You can do 1/2" increments until you get to a height that works for you.
According to the parts catalog, a stock windshield measures 18'' from the lower radius that goes over the headlight to the top radius of the shield.
Well this where I get confused. When I measure my windshield from the lower radius to the top (along the surface of the windshield) it measures 20". The 2012 catalog list 16, 18 and 22" windshield heights. Is the height suppose to measured in the verticle plane as opposed to along the surface?

Reason: spelling
When I measure my windshield from the lower radius to the top (along the surface of the windshield) it measures 20".
Before I changed it to a taller one, the original stock windshield on my '07 RK was also 20" - - measured just like yours from the bottom radius to the top of the windshield.
The windshield on my road king was 20 inches from the top to the top of the cutout over the headlight. I cut it down to 17 inches and like it a lot better now. I am about 5'9".
My "Stock" windshield measured 20" from cutout to top. 16 - 18 - 22 can be purchased too. I cut mine down to 17 1/4 and it's way better for me. With greater visibility came more rider confidence. No longer was the top edge of the shield through my line of sight.

OK I think I have it now. I can be a litle think at times. Guess I'll be looking at cutting mine down to around that 17" area but will wait until I have settled on a new seat first. Waiting for spring to come now. :-(
As others have mentioned, the stock shield is 20". I had the opposite problem as you, I was too far above the windshield. Ended up with a 24" Grand Touring shield from Clearview and it's great for the cold weather.
