Was at my local stealer yesterday ( gift card) And I picked up the HD Edge Cut Shift lever, and went to inquire about the matching rear brake lever. Well harley only makes the brake lever in the Edge Cut for 07 and newer FL, Only chrome is available for 97-06. Just wondering what the difference is? Would I be able to run the lever for 07 and newer, or is totally different? Mines an 06 RK. I didnt buy the shift lever, I want both sides to match if I do anything.
Oh, and priced out a serivce manual.....94 dollars! I guess ill stick with the electronic version, and print out the pages I need.
Good luck with your brake lever question. I want to put a 09 and up long lever on mine. I think yours is the same as mine but did not research in that direction. I found out in person because Ronnie's microfiche is wrong that the change from my pedal to the new ones also involved changing the push rod going into the master cyl. From what I could tell looking at the 08 and up billet levers compared to 07 back (how far I don't remember) my pushrod has a clevis that goes around a single plate arm on the lever. The 08 and up have a flattened end push rod that goes between two plate arms coming off of the lever. Next step is to see if I can change the push rod from 07 to 09 and use my master cyl. It looks like a PIA to remove the lever just to look at it so I will keep trying to find someone who knows. Ideally I would like to grind off one of the plate arms from the 08 and up but can't tell if the remaining arm is in the right location inboard to outboard. It looks like the bushings and mounting of the levers are the same.
BTW I just went to the HD site and searched on brake lever. It looks like the edge cut is only made for 08 and up. Or at least thats all they still produce. If it was made for 07 and earlier you might find one on the shelf at another dealer but you will probably need the part number to find it that way.
I think mike refers to the price of the svc manual. Your electronic version is in violation of copyright laws.
For $94 I think I would use the e version. There should be a law against $94. Oh yea there is it is called theivery. My $60 paper copy is less than 6 months old and pages were falling out on the first read through. I could have gotten it for $48 from Zurdyke + shipping but I bought it the day I picked up the bike and didn't know about Zurdyke. Still would be pissed about the poor quality binding.
