Default Stock or Woods directional Lifters for 107 Build?

dear friends - any thoughts on the benefits of the directional lifters over stock. I heard they will dampen the valve train noise. I was hoping to hear some current members remark on their experience or thoughts.

Thanks a million

I like mine and my bike is no louder than stock and actually it might be less.

If your cam is not too radical, you would be fine with stock lifters. Just make sure you shim the rockers so you have about .004 clearance. A lot of people, me included, have reported that this one step can really reduce your valve train noise.

The cam that I have now is a Tman 590 gear drive and it is very quiet for the cam it is. And all I have are stock lifters.

If you purchase the 107 kit from FM it comes with the lifters so why not try them. You can always put the sock ones back in if you don't like the results.

What is a "directional" lifter? How does it differ from stock?

It only has the flat for the anti-rotation pin on one side.

New Knight Prowler Ž “Directional” roller lifters can only be installed in one position.
This method correctly aligns the oil feed hole in the lifter body with the oil feed channel in the lifter bore of the case. All other brands can be installed 90 to 180 degrees out of alignment.

Ř New Full Floating axle for the lifter roller race. This eliminates flat spots on the axle that can lead to failure.

Ř New Load Divider lifter bearing race designed to distribute an even load across the cam lobes. This feature reduces heat and stress that leads to increased cam and lifter life.

Ř A Newly designed push rod Lifter Cup that insures even, proper oil flow through the push rod to the top end.

Ř A Newly designed Lifter Body that allows piston jet oil port to remain open with cams up to .750 + lift.

Ř New hydraulic Piston Cup and Check Valve that increase bleed time rate. This corrective action gives you performance like a solid lifter but with ANTI-PUMP UP hydraulic operation.
