I live near Wilkes- Barre. I first ordered 10". After waiting for the inner fairing to come in and lots of debate, I ordered a set of 12". So, one will be going on the bike and one will be for sale. I will probably put the 12" on and pull them back a little, I too like to lean back on the back rest. Come spring I have no problem taking a ride.
Wilkes-Barre.. thats like next door for a ride on the bike..LOL
I have gone back and forth about these and the ergo up and back bars as well as the WO575. I think the 575's are out because I don't care for the HD wrist angle and it seems they have a similar angle. The PY 10's and the ergos seem to be the closest to each other although the ergos don't seem as high.
I don't care for the look of the bars over the fairing. I rode with the HD stockers all day this past weekend and my biggest issue was the wrist angle and wanting about 2 more inches especially when I lean back on the backrest when its on. I like the pics I've seen on here because it looks like the PY 10's give me that extra up yet keep me behind the fairing and the ergos do the same thing. Now its just deciding. I like the style of the PY bars, but my wallet is giving me dirty looks cuz they are about 150 more then the ergos it seems.
Now if I can get some more installed ergo up or back pics.
Saw a yaffe bike in one of the mags recently and he had some custom 8" version of his bars on it.These looked great to me and something i wish he would put out.
I'm in the market for apes for my limited. I'd love to get the 10" PY bars BUT the big problem is getting them. The 12's are farely easy but the 10's are special order and I don't want to wait 2 months.
Mark
i didn't wait so long, just 8 weeks to arrive at Dr V-Twin and 3 weeks to arrive in France...
I forgot the wait and my PYO 10" always make me love it as soon as i see it
So with the 10's I dont need to lengthen anything as I have read but still unclear about the clutch. I know I dont have to get another clutch cable but what if I want to keep it coming thru the hole in the fairing?? Re-Route somewhere/some how else thru inner fairing or new, longer cable?? I want to use the factory hole in the fairing since its already there. Not to mention already gonna have two holes to plug from the mirrors.
These are the 12" MBBs. I'm 6'1" (all legs), so my shoulders are at a lower level when seated, similar to a guy a few inches shorter, and the 12" bars are perfectly at shoulder level. The fairing mounted mirrors are below your hands and are just where they need to be. The 10" bars will block the mirrors, and you will need to explore other options for rear view mirrors.
Just when I think I've considered all angles...
What I've noticed being said in this thread is something I've been thinking while looking at pics throughout the Forum. How far somebody pulls a bar back is having as much to do with things as rider height and preferred bar height. A 12 pulled back could be shorter than a 10 pushed forward. I will for sure push them as far forward as I can. Still leaning towards the 10's
