Cool

it is the o ring in the cable, need to buy new cable and you can check it on the side stand

I bet it's from the last time you or someone changed the oil and filter. It gets wiped off around the filter but it runs down the cable and in that protective cover on most of them. After running a while the air drives it back and out near transmission. Good $150 pops for the steelers. It however could be cable seal at transmission but then I bet there is too much oil in transmission. Be sure to post back what you find out.

My leak came from the two loosened bolts attaching the exhaust bracket to the case. Had to remove exhaust, apply locktite to the bolts and re-torque.

as above, check the 2 lower bolts, the one with the pencil pointing at it, and the one to the left of it if you want to eave the exhaust in place, use the butt end of a 1/4" screwdriver bit, and turn that with a wrench.

there are new torque specs for the tranny "trap door" bolts 23 ft pounds- use locktite too.

b.) can be O ring as mentioned above OR over filled tranny, OR blocked tranny vent ( mud wasps) causing warm pressurized fluid to push past the O ring and up the cable.

c.) the tranny dipstick is beside the oil dipstick- open you manual for levels, checking it etc. lots of good info in the manual, specific to your year and model ( which is not mentioned in the post)

to locate seeps, spray the area with drug store spray on foot powder, where it washes away, is the source of the leak.

No manual ?

i could tell you how I measure mine- but if you have a different model bike...

the tranny dipstick is on top of the tranny. on the right side of the bike.

The CLUTCH is on the other side of the bike. you check that fluid level by removing the big round cover on the primary case ( the cable enters the tranny trap door on the right side of the bike, it moves a rod that goes all the way through to the clutch)

You lack familiarity with your bike--- if you don't have a manual get one on ebay or from a dealer

The clutch is on the left side in the primary case. Its a separate area and they do not share fluids. Coming out of the transmission between them is three shafts inside each other (like a pipe in a pipe) The smaller one is the clutch push rod. That the one that vents the primary into transmission that has a vent tube. The next one is the drive from engine coming into transmission. The outer is the drive coming out of transmission that the drive pulley is on that drive rear sprocket. Engineering extraordinaire...
To your question. All fluids probably should be checked with bike level. Engine and transmission with dip sticks. Clutch like below--of course with just derby cover off.

Yes, your welcome. Were you exhaust mount bolt's loose in transmission?
