Default Strange oil leak

Took me a while to figure out where it was coming from. So every time I get home from a ride I park the bike in the garage, after 30 minutes or more theres this drop of oil under my bike near my clutch cable. I got to lookin and find a small portion of my braided clutch cable worn away and wet with trans fluid. Just so happens to be at the lowest part of the cable.

I have been looking for this leak for quite a while now, but never knew it was possible for this to happen. But if you think about it whats stopping transmission oil from getting into your cable. Thought I would share this incase some else had this problem.

A new O ring should fix it....and a band aid over the worn part of the cable...

Default I had exact situation......

Unfortunately the o ring only seals the cable housing to the trap door. The problem occurs when using the clutch, the cable housing rubs along the frame wearing out the housing allowing trans fluid to leak. You will need to replace the cable and when you do, slide a clear plastic sleeve over the cable housing to protect it and secure it with zip ties to prevent future leaks.

Your right, nothing protects the oil from entering the inner cable portion, and yes its time for a new cable.

Yea It sucks but now you can get what they call an easy pull cable that is coated creating less drag or pull. I will say I left mine like that for the longest time (2 years) and all my fear was in the fact of, was it gonna break from all the rubbage and leaving me stranded.......

Fact is, the clutch cable/transmission cover is designed so the lower end of the clutch cable is lubricated by transmission oil. This way, the cable gets at least SOME lubrication even if you don't oil your clutch cable (you DO oil your clutch cable, don't you?).

Cable lube, of course.
