I have to go +6 on a new clutch cable, (handlebar change) do I need to pull retainng ring#4 and fool with the inner ramp & ***** to swap cable ends?
or can it be done just at the ramp coupling#3 ?
I know I have the book here but it does not state to undo the whole assembly just to swap cables.

Once you get the cover off you'll be able to tell if you can get the coupling far enough around to get the cable end out, or if you have to release the ball/ramp assembly. Either way it's not much trouble, & a good pair of clip pliers is something you're going to need anyway.
The answer to your question is no, just take a pair of needle nose pliers and grab the cable end at the ramp and twist it until it comes free from the ramp, providing you've already taken it loose at the clutch lever. Install new cable in reverse. Very simple job.
I did not have to when I did mine.
Pretty easy deal really. Good luck.
installed adjusted and ready to roll, was pretty easy..except for the two bottom bolts behind the exhaust,
the cut down allen wrench trick made it possible without dropping the exhaust.
