im no mechanic, but did you check your terminals? i had a similar problem where i went to start it and it backfired and died (no electric). turned out that the terminals were all junked up. sanded them, tightened them, good to go.

For the little you have rode her....how does she compare to your blue Ultra?

Echoing others comments....it's real neat to see a bike saved from a bad fate.

I bet the original owner would be stunned to see it now!

I might do another one next winter, but for someone else or to sell. I like this one. Went out for about a 40 mile ride today, freshly licensed.... I hate the oil pressure at idle but I understand its normal. Somewhere around 6 to 8 psi hot. Runs about 34 to 36 at cruise which I guess is around 2800 to 3000 rpm. Maybe that's to high in the rpm range, should I drop them down to 2300 to 2500?
