Default Amp Installed: About time!!!

Well today was the day. I finally stopped procrastinating and installed my Amp and Speakers. Arc Audio 125.2 BX and Polk Audio MM651. I actually installed the speakers a couple weeks ago and was disappointed to say the least, but then realized that they really needed the amp to push them. Installed the amp today and all I can say is WOW!!!! After setting the gain and bass, I have it set up so that I don't have to turn the stereo up past half way even at highway speeds. Only thing I think I'll have to change is the stock speaker grills. One note: The instructions say that you don't have to use the remote; that the speaker input will be enough. "NOT!!!!!!!" I used the headlight connector as the switch. If I ever decide to install aux lights I'll switch it over to the cig lighter. Overall I have to say that I am very pleased with the performance of tha Amp and the Speakers.

Hey bald1der, great timing on your install. Bought Polk's for mine and hoping my franken-fit install will prove just as pleasing.

Was curious what you meant by "instructions say that you don't have to use the remote"? What remote? Are you talking about an additional power source to the amp or something else?

Sounds like your install was pretty easy though. I envy just the thought of an easy install. I imagine you have & stuck with your stock HK radio? If so, I can see why you got decent power put down with the 2 ohm set-up. I read the specs and saw how much it dropped with a 4 ohm set-up, 125 per down to 70. Polk told me what I should be pushing the speakers with (yikes!) so it was interesting to read your results. Sadly ($$$$) I'll be running 4 speakers.

I have the same problem...speaker input doesn't turn on the amp. Did you connect the aux light switch to the terminal marked "Turn on"?

Da Butcher,

The Arc wire kit comes with 3 wires, a black ground, red power and a orange "remote" wire. It says if your using the high input instead of the RCA's that the unit will sense power from the speaker wires coming from the radio. Well after I got everything all buttoned up, (not the fairing) I turned it on and the amp didn't come on. No power. I double checked all my wires, connections and everything was good. The only thing I have left was the remote wire. I hooked it up to the cigarette lighter to test it and the amp came right on. I only have the gain turned up half way. I don't see why this amp won't power 4 speakers.

I did a test using the switched power coming from the cigarette lighter, but I used the extra wire on the headlight wire harness for a permanent power source. It only comes on when the ignition switch is on.

I have a similar set up... But if the stereo comes on and then I fire up the bike I lose the sound. I then gave to turn the radio off, shut down the bike. Then fire the Bike up and after its running I turn on the radio and it works.

I'm going with the Polk Speakers. My question is did you use the mounting plate Polk has with the speakers or what did you use?

No, I ordered the 6 1/2" adapter rings from Hawg Wired. The fit is a little tight on the right side( as your facing from the front) but no real issues.
