way back when I was a young lad and my dad and uncles all rode Harleys or Indians, every one of them was equipped with front mudflaps that nearly touched the ground. many years later when I got my first dresser (1979) my Dad asked me, "where's your front mudflap, aren't you worried about flat tires?" He went on to explain his theroy about front mud flaps and rear tire flats. He said the front mudflap isn't about water or rain, it was there to knock over or lay down that nail/screw your front tire just stood up as it rolled over it. He went on to explain, you almost never seen a flat front tire, but rear tire flats are very common.
There are a lot of experienced riders on this forum and wondered, does the front mudflap theory hold water or are rear flats more common because of rear wheel torque and traction?
Also, where's a good source for front mudflaps? The H-D version doesn't do much for me and doesn't seem to be long enough to just skim above the road surface.
