start bike and determine that the idle speed has been set by the set screw on the front side of the carb, not by the cable giving constant tension- if you need to adjust idle speed, shutting off the bike, may save the paint on your tank from dings- you want to do this with a warm motor
determine the throttle cable (the "puller") adjust it so it is "longer", until there is just a slight amount of throttle grip movement between "zero" and cable tension.
once this is set to satisfaction, tighten the lock nut to the adjuster.
the idle cable or "pusher" just spin the adjuster out until there is not slack in the line.
work the throttle to ensure there is no binding.
working the throttle has probably shot a bunch of gas into the carb throat, so start the bike to burn it off before it can wash down the cylinder walls.
Do a short victory lap- with your wrenches in you pocket in case you need to adjust.
