Default HD LED headlight

Was at the dealer today and looked at their powered side by side display comparing the stock and LED headlight. Impressive light and good off to the side visibility. Going to get it and add it next month but was wondering, what is the life expectancy of the LED elements? Is worth it to go with the passing light also?

if you google, there is a comprehensive H-D LED vs Trucklite LED vs HD Halogen.

It shows intensity and beam patterns quite well, real world tests and a really good read.

Many riders use that to decide on the trucklite ( and an upgraded version is just hitting the market, you can search the forum for more on that)

To my eyes the HD led had a better pattern.

but the cost is way too high- and while LEDS last near forever, the control boards could be better.

So I'm waiting.

Mike

Agreed, great lights and I've looked at them, but your in the $900 range to replace the headlight and passing lamps with the HD LED version. The Trucklite/Kuryakyn version is $350-$400 less, and the phase 7 is just hitting the street which looks a ton better than the phase 6 they had out. IMHO the HD version isn't worth almost double.

I have the HD LED passing lamps. They kick ***, well worth the money. I have the Trucklite LED headlamp. It works great also.

I went with the TL's becuase of the daytime visibility. I think they are a lot more visable than the HD's. Night time comparison is close but I would rather be seen in the daylight.

I've got the HD light in black. No complaints whatsoever. My money, and I deemed it worth it. The new Phase VII TLs were not out at the time I switched. To me the Phase VII is a big improvement over the butt-ugly Phase V or Phase VI.

After reading all the comments and reviews between the Harley LEDs and Truck-Lite I will be going with the TL phase 7 when they become available.

Go HID...Price wise there is no comparison. Light output is outstanding also. LEDs are the future. Just not there yet. Price is just too high for the average guy to try.
