yet another cam thread
OK, so far ive got some opinions on the se 255 cam. sounds like it will work great for me, but ive also heard that the andrews 26 cam will be good for my bike too. Bone stock 09 street glide with arlen ness big sucker ac, rinehart extreme true dual exhaust with 3.5 in rinehart mufflers, and power commander 5. The bike seems to do ok now, with 71.5 max hp and 80 max torque, i would just like to wake it up with some more grunt down low, that in best case scenario, will extend all through the rpm's. 50/50 2up rider, but wen im not im usually ripping around. I need a bolt in cam that all im going to need to install with it is adj. push rods and new bearings/gaskets etc. no other motor work to be involved. Am i limited to these two cams or are there others that will give me more bang for my buck? thanks in advance!
Give a look at the S&S 551 Easy Start cams. I don't know if you have compression release already, but if you don't you might want to add these to your look list. I searched and read all the cam threads I could before I pulled the trigger. The numbers the 551's make and the Easy Start feature are what sold me on these cams. I just finished my install last night and have limited miles on it so far, but the starting is even easier now than it was with the stock cams. And, they pull from idle on up :-)
Check out Feuling cams..
I think that you will pleasantly surprised.
I initially had bought Woods TW6-6's, but they come on @2800 or so..a little too late.
I then bought Andrews 48H's as they go further out on the RPM scale than do the 255's..
I then decided to sell both cams and went with what I have now.
The Feuling 525's do not have as high of a lift as do either the 255's or 48H's but come on @1800 and are strong until 5800. It's hard to believe I know, but is true.

sure i'll bite, stock cams are a weak link so pretty much anyone who's gone to a different cam will have a positive experience to share. woods 5-6's were my choice and they pull hard off the bottom and rev out well.
