Disabling ABS
I told you that was going to happen way back on page 1, post #7. Not exactly as I had prophesized, but you get the idea.
I don't know of many semi's that can stop as fast as a motorcycle can, so if you end up with your face planted in the rear of one I'd have to say that had more to do with your actions than that of your braking system, short of complete failure.

As for the legal issues...
1) Isn't the ABS system an option on several models?
2) And even those bikes that have ABS as standard equipment, aren't
there similar models that don't?
3) Is there any law or regulation that requires ABS?
So what is the problem with disabling it?
I would think that a bike would meet all motor vehicle safety requirements with or without ABS, therefore no liability issues should exist.

I know that for here, vehicles with abs have to be functioning to pass a motor vehicle inspection. I don't see the big deal if the op wants to disable/engage the abs. Wouldn't a switch after the fuse be simpler instead of soldering a switch where the fuse goes?
And you think it's rational thinking to disable a safety function that has been proven by a large margin to save lives???
What really entertains me is those on either side of the debate whose way is the only way. I don't think either side of the debate is stupid as both sides have some valid points, but when you argue that someone is stupid because they see it differently than you, now that's stupid.
I kinda get the feeling that you're suggesting that anyone who considers disabling their ABS to be stupid. Am I right?
I would not disable it. Not calling people who do stupid, but ABS is a safety feature that when used properly is a great tool. When people say it does not work properly they are not using it correctly. Gotta look further down the road for changing road conditions.
