Did same thing. Bought an extended shifter from walters work shop. This is my fourth. Lowered front shifter as low as it would go installed rear shifter as low as possible. I now do not have to raise my foot to shift. Only tap it with my heel.

I grew up on dirt bikes... got my first big street bike a VTX Retro.. it had a one piece heel/ toe that you had to use... got used to it pretty quick.had that bike for 4 years... bought the Street Glide and got the shifter adjusted to where I wanted it and used it for about 3 1/2 years then noticed I enjoyed riding better using my toe.. so I kept it on but quit using it for the other 1 1/2 years I had the bike...... as soon as I brought home my Road GLide I took the heel shift off and won't put it back on unless I trade it in.
