So I just finished up dropping my license plate below the taillight and swapping out for the shorter-than-stock (HD) lightbar. Add an LED license plate cover and it's a whole new look - no more billboard!
(From the older first pic, I also installed a BAL 3S taillight and V&H Fishtails)
This relocator bracket is from Softbrake and I can't say enough about these folks. I had a couple of questions before my order and emails came back immediately. Shipping notification was almost instant after I ordered and the owner called me a few days after delivery to personally ask me how I liked it!?!?!?! Who gives this kind of service these days - ESPECIALLY in the aftermarket motorcycle parts business?!?!?!?!?!?
I really like the way it turned out (sorry for the cellphone pics)

Looks great, I like that they stick out less. Plate below the light bar is perfect.
What are you using to cover the holes left by the plate bracket?
Here's what I'm doing - belt buckle!
Good job on that one! My '07 had the plate mounted on that crossbar - no holes in my fender to cover. I used a belt buckle on the battery cover on my last bike so I like the way you think....I have a horn cover mod in the works thinking outside of the box a little bit, too. Your buckle looks great...
Like the way the buckle covers the mounting holes for those of us without the license bar bracket. How did you mount it?
Cost is $25 for the buckle. Ground down the parts on the back with a dremel tool, applied 3M automotive grade double stick tape. I was worried that the buckle would have a different curve than the fender, but it matches up remarkably nicely, and it does not move at all this thing is rock solid attached to the fender.

$40 for the plate relocator, about $25 for the shorter lightbar, $25 for the LED plate frame and a couple hours goofing around. Obviously, you could do all or just part of what I did, but I had to have that narrower bar.....
