I have been using it for the last couple of years in everything except my truck. I never had any luck with Stabil when I had my boat so I thought I would try it out. I used to have to pour gas in my carb on my John Deere every time I went to use it even with Stabil added. Startron in the fuel, Cranks right up every time now, even if it has sat over the winter. My weed eaters and blowers were the same way, no troubles now. Same with my chainsaw. Works great in small engines and the previous poster that said he has never heard but bad things about it is the first negative thing I have ever heard anywhere, from anybody about the stuff. No one at the marina's uses stabil anymore. Star Tron is about all you see around boats down here in Florida and we have a lot of boats.
As far as the bike, I have an 07' Softail that I don't really notice a significant difference in when I don't use it other than adding to the shelf life of the fuel. They claim Startron will make fuel last up to two years, I know for a fact it will last over the winter. I also have a 2000 Road King that is carbed and I notice a huge difference in the way it runs with the Star Tron added. I get about three more miles to the gallon with it as well in the Road King. I will keep on using it in all my small engines and the Road King.
I used it for winter storage in place of Sta-Bil. in all of my stuff. (the bike and gas powered outdoor equipment) I didn't gum up, so for my purpose, it worked, I guess.
I think it would be a waste of money if you put in in every tankful of gas though. JMO
Yet I use no additives in anything ever...
Mowed my yard for the first time last week and (like it has for the past 20 years,) the tractor fired right up.
The bike has 105,000 miles on it, ( changed the fuel filter at 95,000 miles, discovered that it didn't need that either,) and the bike's never seen an additive.
Car hit 110,000 miles just last week, (Sorry no additives there.)
They say that ignorance is bliss. How would you know if it helps or not if you have never tried it Stiggy? What does a Metal fuel filter have to do with anything? Ethanol attacks plastic,
not metal. Does your tractor have a metal fuel tank? I am guessing it does. My John Deere has a plastic tank. All conditions are not equal for everyone. Some may need something like
Startron and some may not. Consider your self blessed that it is not an issue with you but don't try and make me sound like an idiot because I am using something that I don't need "to
make myself feel better". I am sold on it and will continue to use it. It's good stuff.
I use Startron .. Had good results with better starting and MPG with it .. Enough to justify it's cost .. I also change my fuel filter when the Service Manual recommends it ..
